LaGrange falls to Mary Persons in home opener

The no. 3 ranked LaGrange boys soccer team hit a roadblock on Friday as the Grangers lost 4-1 in extra time of their region opener against Mary Persons.
LaGrange had multiple close calls in the first half and eventually broke the deadlock when Luis Morales scored a little over halfway through the first half.
The game would go to the half with the Grangers leading 1-0, but the lead would be short-lived in the second half. The Bulldogs would tie the game just nine minutes into the second half.
It looked like Mary Persons would take the lead with 15 minutes left in the game, but Cooper Metcalf got down at the near post to make a clutch save.
The game would go to extra time where the Bulldogs would score just four minutes into the first of two 10-minute halves.
Just minutes later Mary Persons would score the insurance goal. The Bulldogs added a final goal in the second half of extra time to put the game to rest.
LaGrange fell to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in region play. The Grangers will look to make it five wins in a row next Tuesday when they host Carrollton.
