Williams recognized for 35 years of service

During the first quarter employee recognition portion of the Troup County Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, longtime detention officer Jennelia Williams was recognized for more than three decades of service.

Detention Officer Williams has worked at TCSO for 35 years.

TCSO Sgt. Everett Brockington spoke on behalf of Willaims saying she is a great person, both personally and to the community. 

“The Troup County Sheriff’s Office core values are the clearly stated principles about the organization’s vision, mission and principles. If there is a person who is aligned around this guiding philosophy to employees, customers and the broader community, it has to be Detention Officer, Jennelia Williams,” Brockington said.

Brockingtion said Williams has shown her personal core values in ways that everyone who is associated with her understands. Based on her personality and work, her core values are beauty, honesty, discipline, truth, responsibility and kindness, he said.

“The Troup County Sheriff’s Office, Troup County Government Center, and the community alike are fortunate to have such a dedicated employee such as Jennelia Williams in our midst for the last 35 years. Thank you for your service and dedication because it doesn’t go unnoticed,” Brockington said.

In other service recognitions, Chief Juvenile Probation Officer Nicole Kostial was recognized for 25 years of service.

TCSO Deputies Frankie Mayo and Keith Mitchell along with Tammie Owens of the Tax Commissioner’s Office were recognized for 20 years of service.

Commission Chairman Patrick Crews and Property Appraiser Justin Purdue were recognized for 10 years of service.

Detention Officer John O’Neal, Firefighter/EMT Jake Shattles, Deputy Nathan Smith and Firefighter/EMT Hunter White were recognized for five years of service. 

A total of 155 years of service to the citizens of Troup County was recognized during the Board of Commissioners meeting, including West Point Parks & Recreation Director Michael Pitts’ 50 years of service. Pitts was featured in the Daily News on Wednesday.
