The Troup baseball team brushed aside Fayette County 17-2 for a region win at home on Tuesday.

The Tigers opened the game with a bang, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first inning. Davis Moncus hit a sacrifice fly to get Troup on the board with a run. Carson Walker scored on a passed ball to double the lead. Brady Willis brought home the third run of the inning with a single. A couple of errors and a passed ball allowed the final three runs of the inning to score.

Troup was not done there, adding six more runs to its lead. An error allowed the first run of the inning to score and a ball allowed a second. Chase Mosley would hit a double later in the inning to drive home two runs and then reached home on an error to make it 11-0.

Courtney Wilson would get an RBI groundout to drive home the sixth and final run of the inning.

Fayette County finally got on the board with two runs in the top of the third, but it did little to slow down the Troup momentum.

Even with coach Tanner Glisson going deep into his bench, the Tigers still added three runs to their tally in the third inning.

Troup would end the game by mercy rule with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Garrison Edwards led the Tigers with two hits. Parker Townsend, Fisher Baltzell, Keagan Monk, Chandler Glisson, Trey Dean, Mosley, Walker, Willis and Wilson all had a hit apiece.

Mosley got the start on the mound and struck out seven batters while allowing just two hits in his three innings of work. Baltzell would pitch the final inning for the Tigers.

Troup improved to 7-6 overall and 2-1 in region play. The Tigers will rematch Fayette County on the road on Thursday.
