The Callaway boys soccer team ran away from Westside (Macon) on Tuesday to earn a 9-5 region win.
It was a game that Callaway put to rest early which allowed head coach Mike Petite to tinker with his lineup and get some JV guys on the field and it showed at times, especially in the second half.
One player who showed his experience and poise was Rickey Vaughn. The junior powered the team to victory with four goals and three assists and had a hand in just about every major attack the Cavaliers had in the night.
Jayden Bailey kept the Callaway midfield connected and finished with a goal and two assists.
Christian Cook, Justin Ponce, Angel Martinez and Brycen Moore all finished with a goal apiece.
Brayden Morris had six saves in goal for the Cavaliers.
Callaway improved to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in region play. The Cavaliers will travel to take on Pike County next Tuesday in what will be a crucial region matchup. Callaway beat the Pirates 1-0 in a thrilling game at home last month.
