On April 12, the Troup County Agricultural and Educational Center will host a Fun Day Meet & Greet for individuals and their families in the Low Vision and Blind Community.

The event is being put on by EYE C U, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit that aims to promote awareness, wellness and resiliency to disabled, blind and visually impaired individuals in rural communities.

The goal of the event is to help people who are either new to the low-vision and blind community in LaGrange or nearby communities or blind persons who may be dealing with not having access to resources.

Many may not know what it is to live as independently as possible but can learn from others in their situation and receive community resources and other help.

The event will also provide resources for peer support, skill development, referrals, assistive technology information transition services and more.

While helping the visually impaired is the focus, the day will also be fun and inviting for everyone.

Family and friends of blind and low-vision individuals are invited to join their loved ones to enjoy food, games and loads of fun.

The event is free to the entire community.

The meet & greet will be held Saturday, April 12, at the Troup County Agricultural and Educational Center at 2168 Pegasus Parkway in LaGrange from 1 to 5 p.m.
