The new ownership of Hog Heaven/Red Rooster on West Point Road announced plans to bring Korean-style barbecue to the LaGrange restaurant.
While speaking in support of a liquor pouring license application, new Hog Heaven owner Chef Young Oh Chang said he plans to bring American-style barbecue together with Korean-style barbecue to the restaurant.
Chang advised that Hog Heaven/Red Rooster is closed temporarily for renovations as the restaurant makes improvements to transition to offering both styles of barbecue.
While Chang had difficulty communicating due to broken English, his partner helped explain the restaurant’s renovation plans.
“The Korean community and the American community, we try to kind of be together. So we try to get some part of American restaurant and part Korean restaurant,” the owners said.
“Basically, he invited all of you to come out to Hog Heaven to try his wonderful barbecue,” Commission Chairman Patrick Crews joked.
The liquor pouring license, which was the second application for the county since the November referendum allowing the sale of liquor drinks by the glass, was unanimously approved by the Board of Commissioners.
In other business, the commissioners approved a request from the Troup County Sheriff’s Office for up to $80,000 in security upgrades for the courthouse.
The need for the improvements was discussed during an executive session portion of the Board of Commissioners work session on Tuesday, March 9. County Manager Eric Mosley would not provide any information on the security upgrades, citing security concerns.
County Attorney Mark Degennaro clarified that the executive session was limited to the need for courthouse security improvements, not funding or anything of that nature.
