At approximately 3:15 AM on March 13, 2025, the LaGrange Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 214 Bell Street. Upon arrival, firefighters found the single-story wood-framed structure fully engulfed in flames, with fire visible from every window and the roof.

Engine 1 quickly initiated firefighting efforts as additional units arrived on the scene to assist. Engine 4 provided backup, and Engine 5 was assigned to a secondary line for more effective fire control. After Truck 32 established a water supply, Engine 1 deployed a deck gun. Several sections of the roof and walls collapsed in the early moments of the response, and the fire was brought under control approximately 10 minutes after units arrived.

A thorough search confirmed that the structure was vacant, and no injuries were reported. However, the extent of the fire damage, combined with the building’s poor condition, made further investigation impossible.

According to the LaGrange Police Department, there have been reports of people living in the abandoned structure on and off over the years. The property’s total value was estimated at $15,740, and it has been deemed a total loss. The cause of the fire remains undetermined. The scene was cleared after all hot spots were extinguished.
