UPDATE
The LaGrange Police Department Traffic Division has completed their investigation of the collision that occurred on East Depot Street on February 22, 2025, at approximately 11:00 pm. The traffic division determined that Jacob Lashawn Lawson was the driver of the vehicle that struck David Allen Haney and left the scene of the collision. The Lagrange Police Department has active warrants for Jacob Lawson for this incident and if you have any information regarding his whereabouts, or this case, please contact the Lagrange Police Department.
Jacob Lawson has active warrants for the following charges:
- Homicide by Vehicle 1st Degree
- Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Felony)
- Too Fast for Conditions
- Expired Tag
- Incorrect Information of his Driver’s License
- Tire Requirements
- Windshield Requirements

On Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 2306 hours, officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to the intersection of East Depot Street and Rome Avenue in reference to a subject struck by a vehicle. When they arrived, they were able to locate the victim. The victim was located on East Depot Street and he was unresponsive. The suspected driver fled the scene without rendering aid to the pedestrian. The Traffic Division and the Criminal Investigations Division immediately responded and investigated the motor vehicle collision. The Traffic Division is actively attempting to contact the victim’s family to provide notification of this incident.
