The Callaway baseball team made it back-to-back wins with a 5-1 victory over Handley on Wednesday.
The Cavaliers opened the scoring with a run in the top of the third courtesy of a solo homer from Junior Luke Taylor.
Callaway doubled its lead in the fourth inning when Junior Reeves reached home on a passed ball.
The Cavaliers were not done there, adding two additional runs in the sixth inning. A balk allowed Wesley Williams to reach home and give Callaway a 3-0 lead. Taylor would get his second RBI of the day on a ground out to wrap the scoring in the inning.
The Cavaliers added a fifth and final run in the seventh inning courtesy of a one-run single from sophomore Cass Fuller.
Taylor, Fuller, Blake Harrington, Brody Swanson and Jackson Butts all had a hit apiece for the Callaway offense.
Slade Hunt had a shutout going into the seventh inning where Handley was able to grab a consolation run. It was an impressive showing on the mound for Hunt, who struck out five batters while allowing just five hits and one earned run in his complete-game showing.
Callaway improved to 8-6 overall and remained at 1-3 in region play. The Cavaliers will be back in action on Thursday at home against Lamar County.
