The LaGrange baseball team cruised to a 10-1 region win over Sandy Creek on the road Thursday.

It was all Grangers from the offset as they scored five runs in the top of the first inning to put an early marker down.

Rob Skinner singled to drive home the first run and break the deadlock. Gryson Cockrell hit a sacrifice fly to double the LaGrange lead. Sinjon Lash would clear the bases with a triple to give the Grangers an early 5-0 advantage.

LaGrange was not done there, adding two additional runs in the third inning. Kayden Sutton brought home the first with a double while Grady Westmoreland drove home the second with a triple.

The Grangers scored an eighth run in the top of the sixth courtesy of a Brandon Bennett one-run single.

The Patriots would score a consolation run in the bottom of the sixth.

LaGrange would score its final two runs of the game in the top of the seventh thanks to a wild pitch and a Westmoreland RBI triple.

Westmoreland was sensational from the plate with two triples and a double. Lash also dominated from the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle.

Offense came from up and down the lineup for LaGrange with Cockrell finishing with two hits and Skinner, Bennett and Sutton all registering one hit each.

Mason Calhoun started on the mound of LaGrange and dominated in his five innings of work, striking out six and allowing just one hit. Westmorland would pitch the final two innings, striking out six batters on no hits.

LaGrange is on a tear, having won three in a row and nine of its last 10 to improve to 12-6 overall and 6-1 in the region. The Grangers will return to action on Friday in a rematch with the Patriots at The Branch.
