In April, Hillside Montessori School in LaGrange will host an Earth Day Festival to celebrate and promote sustainability in our community.
The part family fun day, and part community education event will be held at the school to both raise awareness about the Earth and give back to the community. The event is nearly free, organizers are asking attendees to bring and donate a canned food item as their entry fee to attend.
Laura Smith, Marketing and Communications Administrator for Hillside Montessori of LaGrange, said the school has held events like this before but not to this scale.
The festival will feature booths from groups providing educational resources as well as retail vendors, where attendees can purchase handcrafted items from small businesses. There will also be food trucks and activities for kids.
Smith said they have space for 24 vendors and they are already almost filled up.
“We’re gonna have kids activities, like bouncy houses and we have a dunk tank that our Head of School will be participating in. The kids will love that,” Smith said.
The festival will have people singing and performing throughout the day. Some of the students and staff will also be performing.
Smith said there will also be student-led booths and the school will have booths as well.
“It’s going to be a fun day for the community to come out and see our new school and our campus, and then also kind of learn a little bit about helping the Earth and sustainability,” Smith said. “It’s going to be an exciting event. We’re looking forward to it.”
The Earth Day Festival will be held Saturday, April 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hillside Montessori at 1001 Hills and Dales Farm Road in LaGrange.
