Starting this Saturday and throughout the month of April, Greenville, Georgia will host an art show featuring more than a dozen LaGrange and Troup County artists.

The 2025 Meriwether Monarch Art Show is a traveling exhibition of a collection of works from Georgia artists. The collection, “Reimagine:  Contemporary Georgia Artists,” includes artwork from local artists and students.

The exhibition celebrates local talent, spotlighting both amateur and professional artists from Meriwether, Troup and surrounding communities embracing every art form and bringing together diverse creative voices from all ages and backgrounds, showcasing everything from timeless crafts to bold contemporary expressions.

Showrunners say the dynamic event offers local artists and students a rare opportunity to be featured alongside the esteemed State Art Collection, adding an extra layer of recognition. Beyond showcasing art, the exhibition fosters collaboration, celebrates the region’s artistic heritage, and ignites community pride and engagement.

The gallery isn’t just an opportunity for artists to showcase their work. It’s an opportunity for students to learn.

Science and art students delved into the fascinating life of Monarch butterflies while creating artwork for the show.

Prior to the exhibition, elementary students in science classes learned about Monarch butterflies. In their fine art classrooms, they explored the butterflies’ natural habitats, migration paths and ways to help preserve them. Their artwork, along with others, is displayed at the show.

Along with the artwork from Meriwether and communities across the state, many local artists’ works will be displayed at the Monarch Art Show. Troup County Artists include: Cindy Fulks, Donna Bailey, Elizabeth Appleby, Felicia Moore, Jaasiel Barrientos, Jesus Pineda, Mary Lata Fields, Mark Hill, Maryse Vaillancourt Prescott, Seyoung Kulp, Chris Hagebak, Steve Close, Terry Page and Charles Scroggins, along with Merri Lawrence and Ann Beason, who were featured in the Daily News on March 18.

The Meriwether Monarch Art Show will be held from March 29 through May 2 at Artisans on the Square Gallery at 397 LaGrange St. in Greenville, Georgia.

A reception will be held on March 29 from 1 to 4 p.m.
