On January 24, 2025, the LaGrange Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division ICAC Taskforce began an investigation into the possession of CSAM, Child Sexual Abuse Material, based on a cyber tip provided through the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children.

On March 27, 2025, around 3 p.m., Detectives made contact with Keny Holmes Pena and executed a search warrant, seizing Pena’s person to seize his cell phone. During the execution of the search warrant, Holmes began to resist officers and threw his phone, breaking it in an attempt to destroy or conceal evidence on the phone. Holmes was found to possess several hundred photographs and videos that are considered CSAM.
