Troup County School System parents and legal guardians of kindergarten through twelfth grade students may request a transfer to another school in the system under House Bill 251. If granted, the transfer will be in effect for the 2025-2026 school year.
All applications and supporting documentation are available on www.troup.org and must be received April 7 – April 24, 2025. All mailed applications and supporting documentation must be postmarked by April 24, 2025. To apply or find out more information, go to troup.org where the following is available:
- HB 251 Parent Information
- HB 251 Transfer Form
- HB 251 List of Schools with Space
Before a transfer is granted, classroom space must be available at the requested school, there must be appropriate teacher allocation at the requested school, and all assigned students must be enrolled and scheduled.
Upon approval to transfer a student to another school in the district, the law requires the parent or guardian assume all costs and responsibilities related to transportation as long as the student remains at the transferred school.
Under House Bill 251, a state law enacted in 2009, a parent or legal guardian of a student in the Troup County School System or a system employee that resides in the state of Georgia may request to transfer the child to another Troup County Public School for the upcoming school year. Before the transfer is allowed, the school district must determine that classroom space is available, that teacher allocations at the school are appropriate and all assigned students have been enrolled and scheduled.
Information may also be obtained by calling the Troup County School System Office at (706) 812-7900.
