The LaGrange High baseball team celebrated 14 players in style on senior night, bashing Fayette County 13-0 for the team’s third straight win.

After a scoreless top of the first inning, the LaGrange bats got right to work in the bottom of the inning. Rob Skinner broke the deadlock with a one-run single. Brandon Bennett made it 2-0 to LaGrange with an RBI double. Jackson Bozeman sent home the final run of the inning with a single.

The Grangers’ bats did not slow down as they added three more runs in the bottom of the second. Skinner hit a sacrifice fly to get the scoring started. A Gryson Cockrell RBI double made it 5-0 to the home team. An error allowed a third and final run to score in the inning.

LaGrange would tack on three additional runs in the third inning. A Max Richardson RBI groundout made it 7-0 LaGrange. Grady Westmoreland would send the following run home with a single. Sinjon Lash drove home the ninth run of the game for the Grangers with a triple.

LaGrange was not done there, scoring four runs in the bottom of the fourth to push the Tigers to the brink. Westmoreland drove home the opening run of the inning with a single. Lash walked with the bases loaded to send the second run of the inning home. Carson Wells and Jackson Hester were hit by pitches back-to-back with the bases loaded to send the final two runs of the game home.

The game would end after the top of the fifth inning due to the mercy rule.

Westmoreland led the way for the LaGrange offense with three hits. Bennett, Richardson and Qua Beasley all had two hits apiece while Skinner, Lash, Cockrell, Jackson Bozeman, Cooper Stephens, Caden Wood and Kayden Sutton all had a hit each.

Wood earned the start on the mound and threw two innings, allowing just one hit. Cason McGill, Matthew Gatens and Sutton all pitched an inning in relief.

LaGrange is now 16-9 overall and 10-4 in region play. The Grangers will be back in action on Monday with a non-region road game against Columbus.
