The Troup baseball team made it 12 wins in a row on Saturday, trumping Russell County 7-0\.

It would not take long for the Tigers to open the scoring, putting two runs on the board in the first inning. A wild pitch allowed Garrison Edwards to reach home for the inning’s first run. A Fisher Baltzell sacrifice fly made it 2-0.

The Tigers continued to add to their lead, scoring three runs in the second inning. A Torreion Delaney RBI groundout gave Troup a 3-0 advantage. Edwards hit an RBI single to stretch the Troup lead out to four runs. Carson Walker sent the final run of the inning home with a sacrifice fly.

The Tigers added a sixth and seventh run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Chase Mosley scored on an error for the first run of the inning. Edwards hit a one-run single to give Troup a 7-0 lead.

Edwards led the Troup offense in impressive fashion, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Davis Moncus had two hits while Jake Perry and Ethan Goff had a hit apiece.

Mosley started the game on the mound and was superb in his six innings of work, striking out six batters while allowing just three hits. Rylan Cantrell got clean-up duty on the mound and pitched the final inning for Troup.

The Troup baseball program took a few minutes before the game on Saturday to celebrate five seniors (Baltzell, Goff, Jake Richardson, Colin Stotsky and Eli Perry) for senior night. What makes this run all the more impressive for the Tigers is just how few seniors and juniors they have on the team.

Troup is now 18-6 overall and remained 11-1 in region play. The Tigers will travel to region foe Sandy Creek next Tuesday.
