The Troup Strategy Center is seeking survey responses from the community on transportation needs.
The strategy group is looking for data on where work transportation is needed to plan for potential future efforts.
The Troup Strategy Center is a nonprofit group comprised of community leaders. The group launched a strategic plan in 2022 at the Chamber of Commerce Early Bird Breakfast, which outlined four initiatives to focus on.
One of the initiatives was alleviating barriers to employment, which included getting transportation to and from work and having reliable childcare.
Maryanne Lovejoy, Executive Director of the Troup County Strategy Center, said the nonprofit has been working to devise strategies to help with transportation, but they need hard data on where the needs exist.
“We really wanted to get some data to prove that we have transportation needs. We have anecdotal information from all aspects, but we don’t really have anything to prove that we have issues with transportation,” Lovejoy said.
The survey is for anybody in Troup County, whether they are county residents or just work in Troup County, Lovejoy said.
“The idea is that we would get some baseline information as to what the needs are,” she said.
“It’s a pretty quick online survey,” said Lovejoy.” It’s just a quick Google Form that asks, Are you working? Are you not working? Are you looking for part-time or full-time work? What hours/shifts? If there were transportation available, would you be willing to pay and what price range?”
The survey also asks for any other feedback on your transportation barriers or what other things should be considered when they are thinking about transportation as a whole throughout Troup County or cities within Troup County.
Lovejoy said that so far, they have had a low response rate and are seeking people to fill out the survey.
“We really had planned to close it by now, but we chose to keep it open so that we could get a higher percentage of respondents, at least through the end of April, but I would be willing to go through May,” she said.
The transportation survey is available at https://forms.gle/7jaGQFmJQH96KZKr5 and only takes a few minutes.
Lovejoy said they also plan to have printed surveys at the upcoming Easter Egg Hunt and Family Expo hosted by Troup Family Connection and Troup County Parks & Recreation on Saturday, April 19.
