Troup Community Action For Improvement (CAFI) is hosting a Georgia Community Action Association (GCAA) Community Connections Forum this weekend.
Residents are invited to the forum to learn valuable insights into community action programs and services.
The event will include a free lunch catered by Jane’s Foods and presentations that highlight GCAA’s mission, initiatives and the transformative power of community action in Georgia.
After the presentations, attendees can take part in Q&A sessions to discuss community networking and resource sharing, allowing participants to strengthen connections with strategic partners and fellow community members.
“People will be able to ask questions and just gain a deeper understanding of the Georgia Community Action Network, and we will have an opportunity to connect with our stakeholders and our community,” said Ezra Otersen, Project Coordinator for GCAA.
“Here at CAFI, we do community action work and services related to low-income families. We have things with Head Start. We have credit repair [programs],” Otersen said.
Otersen also works with AmeriCorps, helping with digital equity.
The forum will help attendees get a better understanding of CAFI and connect with others in the community and people who are here to help, Otersoen said.
GCAA is hoping the forum serves as a catalyst for empowering and equipping attendees with the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to advance community action and contribute to positive change locally and statewide.
The forum is scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Community Action for Improvement at 1380 LaFayette Pkwy in LaGrange.
Organizers say that along with the complimentary lunch, there will be door prizes and free GCAA swag.
