Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Troup County will host its first annual Kickin’ It for CASA kickball tournament on April 26 at the Hogansville Sportsplex.

Kickin’ It for CASA aims to raise funds for local children under the supervision of CASA in foster care.

CASA provides quality court-based advocacy for abused and neglected children. When children are removed from their homes by the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFACS), CASA volunteers help them by being their advocate throughout their time in foster care.

CASA is an essential nonprofit that stands up for the interests of children when their families are going through court cases.

“All monies raised go right back into the program to assist our volunteers with being a voice for children experiencing foster care in Troup County,” said Sharon Lawson, CASA of Troup County Director.

Lawson said the event will be a full day of fun and competition for everyone involved. Even lunch is included.

“We’ll be grilling up some lunch for our players and looking to have round robin play in the morning, and then tournament play in the afternoon to crown the winning team at the end of the tournament as the kickball champions,” Lawson said.

Lawson said they already have several teams signed up and ready to play but there are still a few spots remaining.

The entry fee to play is $250 per team (10-14 players aged 16 and up). Registration information is available on the CASA Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/casatroupcounty.

Kicking it for CASA will be held Saturday, April 26 with sign-ins beginning at 8 a.m. at the Hogansville Sportsplex at 2137 Mobley Bridge Road.
