The City of LaGrange has made the  decision to cancel the ‘Ride for Willie T. and Car Show’ Saturday, April  12th in an effort to support other local school car show fundraisers happening during the same time.

“In the spirit of supporting students, the very reason we were doing this  fundraiser in the first place, we realized our event would be scheduled  within weeks of two other car shows, hosted by LaGrange High School  on Saturday, April 19th and Troup High School on Saturday, May 17th.” Organizer and City Councilman Quay Boddie. “These are meaningful  fundraisers organized by students, parents, and alumni who are  working hard to make a difference in young people’s lives and we don’t  want to take any attention or support away from them.”

Councilman Boddie created this event to honor the memory of the late  Willie T. Edmondson. “We want to lean in and support their efforts of  helping our local students directly. We will reimburse everyone who  has already registered for our event and will provide entry fees if they

would like to participate in either car show at LaGrange High or Troup  High as well as provide a raffle prize to each school’s car show to help  boost their fundraising efforts,” Boddie said. “Supporting the children  isn’t just a cause, it’s a calling that the late Willie T. Edmondson himself

believed in deeply. We feel the best way to honor his legacy is by  putting the students first.”

This event was a fundraiser for the Willie T. Edmondson Memorial  Scholarship Fund. In May 2025, one senior high school student from  LaGrange High School, Troup High School, Callaway High School, and  the LaGrange Youth Council will still receive this scholarship.
