Billy Wayne Kelton, the love of our lives, met his blessed Savior at his death on March 30 at the age of 74.

He died peacefully at LaGrange Hospice after a two…year battle with stage 4 lung cancer.

Billy was born in West Point Georgia on April 2, 1950, to Mary Kay and Jesse Franklin Kelton.

He graduated in 1968 from Lanett High School and received a football scholarship to Troy State College. This is where the summer of his freshman year Billy met his future wife Ann.

Billy lived a life full of love to his wife, 3 children and 8 grandchildren. Family was everything to Billy. Nothing brought him more joy than to follow his children in their athletic endeavors whether it was Chicago Cubs baseball, Alabama baseball or cheerleading and softball.

Billy and Ann enjoyed traveling and made several trips overseas and throughout our wonderful United States in the years prior to his illness. He laughed and often commented that Ann’s name should be Ann GO Kelton.

In the last 8 years he took up golf again and even though it was a challenge he thoroughly enjoyed the comraderies of the friend groups that he played with. Great bonds were formed with these friends through golf. He was so proud of his first Hole-in-One at Highland Country Club in September 2023 prior to his cancer diagnoses in October 2023.

Billy was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square in LaGrange Georgia serving as a deacon for many years and fulfilling the roll of secretary for the deacons.

He loved his Lord and Savior and his church family and truly missed being there during his illness.

His career with State Farm Insurance spanned 44 1/2 years. He started his agency in West Point Georgia and then for the last 34 years had his office in LaGrange Georgia. Billy was a wonderful agent with so much integrity and honesty as he & his staff faithfully took care of their insureds.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Kay and Jesse Franklin Kelton, his brother Gene Kelton and sister-in-law Nancy Kelton. Billy is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann Teal Kelton, daughter, Kimberly Ann Conaway (Clay), son David Wayne Kelton (Meredith), son Jon Teal Kelton (Sidney Anne), 8 grandchildren Addyson Ann Conaway, Jacob Clay Conaway, Luke Kelton Conaway, Mary Elliott Kelton, Grady Hawke Kelton, Robert Hill Kelton, Mac Teal Kelton and Anne Beckham Kelton and niece, Debbie McPherson (Mike.)

The Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025, 3:00-4:00pm at First Baptist Church on the Square, LaGrange, Georgia, with the Celebration of Life Service at 4:00pm.
