Sutton pitches complete game shutout to lead LaGrange past Trinity Christian

The LaGrange baseball team brushed aside Trinity Christian 5-0 in the team’s regular season home finale on Tuesday.

The Grangers opened the scoring in the bottom of the third inning with a Rob Skinner RBI single breaking the deadlock.

The game would stay at 1-0 LaGrange until the Grangers broke the game open in the fifth inning with three runs. Mason Calhoun drove in the first two runs of the inning with a double. Sinjon Lash would send Calhoun home later in the inning with a double. 

LaGrange tacked on a fifth run in the sixth inning as Brandon Bennett drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.  

Kayden Sutton was in complete control on the mound for the Grangers. The senior pitched a complete game in which he allowed just three hits on a whopping nine strikeouts. 

Calhoun and Skinner led the charge for the LaGrange offense with two hits apiece. Lash, Grady Westmorland and Jackson Bozeman had one hit each. 

LaGrange improved to 19-10 overall and 11-4 in region play. The Grangers will close out the regular season on Thursday with a rematch against the Lions on the road.
