Born October 10, 1930, in LaGrange, Steve was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Harriet, son, Craig S. Neely, and parents, Charles and Lola Neely.

Steve met his wife, Harriet, while attending Auburn University. They married in the Auburn Chapel on December 15, 1952, the day he graduated. Together they raised 6 children.
