Hollstrom dominates to lead LaGrange boys soccer into the round of 16

The LaGrange boys soccer team dominated the second half against Peach County to earn a 5-1 win in the first round of the 3A state playoffs on Friday. 

The Grangers opened the scoring 13 minutes into the game when Chandler Gholston found the back of the net on an assist from freshman Ty Hollstrom. Peach County scored just 22 seconds before halftime to knot the game up at a goal apiece.

The second half was all LaGrange, with the away team putting four goals on the board in the final 40 minutes of play. Aidan Collins scored less than three minutes into the second half on an assist from Hollstrom, giving the Grangers their first lead of the game.

Hollstrom’s monster game was just getting started. The freshman midfielder got in on the scoring with a pair of goals to put the Grangers up 4-0. Hollstrom finished with two goals and two assists.

Steve Oh capped off the scoring with a goal with under a minute left in the game. 

Jordy Abelardo, Brennan Connell and Oh all had an assist apiece. 

The Grangers will travel to take on Oconee County next Friday for a Sweet 16 matchup.
