On Saturday, Troup alum Kobe Hudson signed with the Carolina Panthers after going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. Hudson will be joining a wide receiver room that first-round pick from last season, Xavier Leggette, and 34-year-old Adam Thielen, but not a whole lot of depth behind them, giving the former Troup Tiger a chance to compete for a roster spot.
Hudson finished his college career with 181 catches for 2.961 yards and 23 touchdowns across 60 career games.
Hudson was named as an honorable mention for the All-Big 12 teams in both his seasons with the University of Central Florida.
Before transferring to UCF for two seasons, Hudson spent three seasons at his dream school, Auburn, where he compiled 90 catches for 1,291 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Hudson was a true star at Troup High before hitting the college ranks. Hudson had 62 catches for 1,424 yards, 28 TD as a freshman and sophomore for coach Tanner Glisson and the Troup County Tigers. He transitioned to quarterback for his final two years with the Tigers.
Hudson was named the 4A state player of the year and Region 5-AAAA player of the year as a junior, passing for 3,386 yards, 38 TDs, and rushing for 1,410 yards and 18 scores.
Hudson was named an All-American after his senior season with Troup, passing for 1,629 yards, 18 TDs, and rushing for 976 yards and seven TDs in his final season with Troup.
Hudson’s former Troup teammate and fellow wide receiver Jamari Thrash was taken by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
