Green thumbs and garden lovers, mark your calendars. The much-anticipated Annual Master Gardener Plant Sale is back on Saturday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., bringing with it a vibrant celebration of plants, creativity, and community spirit.

Hosted by the Troup County Master Gardeners, this springtime event is a cherished tradition, drawing in crowds from across the area eager to stock up on everything from heirloom vegetables to native perennials. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just getting your hands dirty for the first time, there’s something for everyone.

A Plant Lover’s Paradise

The heart of the event is, of course, the plant sale. Attendees will find an impressive selection of native plants—perfect for supporting local pollinators and adapting effortlessly to the regional climate. Houseplants will also be available; they are ideal for brightening up indoor spaces with greenery. For those planning their edible gardens, a wide variety of vegetable starts, herbs, are also being offered. And if you’re looking to add a splash of color to your yard, don’t miss the vibrant selection of annual and perennial flowers.

All plants are grown and cared for by our knowledgeable Master Gardeners, ensuring healthy specimens. Helpful advice on planting, care, and maintenance will also be available at the ask a Master Gardener table. Proceeds from the sale support local gardening education and outreach programs.

Artisan Market and Local Flavor

This year’s event is even more exciting with the addition of an Artisan Market running alongside the plant sale. Local vendors will showcase their handmade goods—from pottery and garden art to natural soaps, homemade food items, and more. It’s the perfect opportunity to find unique gifts, home décor, or something special for Mother’s Day, just around the corner.

And don’t forget to bring your appetite! Food trucks will be on-site serving a variety of tasty bites and beverages, making it easy to spend a leisurely morning browsing, shopping, and enjoying the spring air.

Fun, Education, and Community

Beyond shopping, the event is a fantastic way to connect with fellow gardening enthusiasts and tap into the wealth of knowledge offered by the Master Gardeners. Volunteers will be available throughout the morning to answer questions, share tips, and help you choose the right plants for your space and skill level.

The Annual Master Gardener Plant Sale and Artisan Fair is more than just a sale—it’s a celebration of sustainability, creativity, and the joy of growing. Whether you’re on the hunt for that perfect tomato start, curious about adding more native plants to your landscape, or just want to spend a beautiful  Saturday outdoors, this event is not to be missed.
