Troup County, Ga. May 7, 2025 – On April 29, 2025, a payroll discrepancy was brought to the attention of Troup County Management, resulting in immediate action to conduct an internal investigation, consult the District Attorney’s Office, and contact outside law enforcement in the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

This investigation led to the termination of a Payroll & Benefits Generalist on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

Troup County is also conducting a thorough review of its payroll and internal control procedures and has implemented interim safeguards to ensure continued financial accuracy and protection of public funds.

In a press release from Troup County, it reads, “The County is committed to transparency and accountability and will continue cooperating fully with the GBI’s ongoing investigation.”

No further information will be released at this time so as not to interfere with the GBI’s ongoing investigation.
