On Wednesday, Troup County issued a press release with information on the termination of an employee for potential misuse of funds but did not identify the employee.

According to the county, a payroll discrepancy was discovered on April 29 by Troup County management, who initiated an internal investigation along with outside help from the District Attorney’s Office, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), which resulted in the termination of a Payroll & Benefits Generalist.

At the time, county officials did not identify the employee, saying they are cooperating with the GBI’s investigation and referring questions to the agency.

At the time, the only person listed on the county’s website as a Payroll & Benefits Generalist was Wesleigh Gaddy. Her name and photo have since been scrubbed from the site.

On Friday, Wesleigh Morgan Gaddy turned herself in at the Troup County Jail, charged with felony theft. She is currently being held on a $160,000 bond.

Requests were made to the GBI for further information, and the agency says a press release on the arrest is coming later today.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
