Amazon announces plans to build a new sortation center in Hogansville, Georgia. The site, which is anticipated to launch in 2027, will create more than 1,000 new, full- and part-time time jobs with benefits starting on day one. The company currently has 22 fulfillment and sortation centers across the state.

“This latest decision from Amazon is another significant investment in Georgia’s growing logistics network and our rural communities,” said Governor Brian Kemp. “With 1,000 new jobs on their way to western Georgia, we’re again delivering on the commitment to bring opportunity to every part of the state. We’re proud of our business-friendly approach that continues to attract both big and small employers to this No. 1 state for business, and I look forward to Amazon’s impact on Troup County and the surrounding region.”

“Georgia continues to be an ideal place for Amazon’s growth, and we’re excited to expand our operations in the Peach State with this new sort center in Hogansville,” said Amazon Manager of Economic Development Deborah Massie. “This facility will create more than 1,000 new jobs with competitive pay and comprehensive benefits. We look forward to becoming an integral part of the Hogansville community and Troup County, while providing career advancement opportunities through our training and upskilling programs for local residents.”

The Hogansville facility will be Amazon’s third sort center in the state. Amazon employees at the more than 1.6 million-square-foot facility will sortation customer orders by final destination and consolidate them onto trucks for faster delivery. Employees will also work alongside innovative technology, allowing them to learn new skills and helping create a more efficient process to meet customer demand.

“The announcement of Amazon’s facility in Hogansville is great news for Georgia’s workforce,” said Georgia Lt. Governor Burt Jones. “These 1,000 new jobs will provide valuable employment opportunities with competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and access to upskilling programs like Amazon’s Career Choice. This investment highlights the strength of Georgia’s labor market and economy, and will contribute significantly to economic growth in Troup County. We’re committed to partnering with Amazon to connect talented Georgians with these exciting new career opportunities.”

“We are proud and excited to welcome Amazon to the city of Hogansville,” said Jake Ayers, Mayor of Hogansville. “This is a milestone that represents more than just economic development. This new facility will mean thousands of local jobs, increased opportunity for our residents, and a stronger foundation for future growth. It’s a testament to what we can achieve when we rethink what is possible for our little town, and when we work together to build a brighter future for our community.”

Hourly employees currently earn an average pay of over $22 per hour across Amazon’s customer fulfillment and transportation networks in the US. Employees have access to comprehensive benefits starting on day one, including full health, vision and dental, 401k with 50 percent company match and up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave. All Amazon employees go through hours of safety training and ongoing coaching and have access to continuing education opportunities through the company’s upskilling program, Career Choice, in which Amazon will pre-pay tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon.

Since 2010, Amazon has created more than 31,000 full- and part-time jobs in Georgia and invested $18.5 billion across the state, including infrastructure and compensation to Amazon employees. These investments have contributed an additional $20.1 billion to the Georgia economy and have helped create 44,700 indirect jobs on top of Amazon’s direct hires in the state.
