For the first time ever, the Troup County School System HR department hosted a Substitute workshop this week to provide our outstanding substitute teachers with training, support, and appreciation for everything they do for our students in the classroom. We were thrilled to have 91 substitutes in attendance, including several who have served TCSS for over 30 years.

The workshop featured an informative presentation on do’s and don’ts, updates on procedures, and a couple of assistant principals & school secretaries shared their insights and support while providing helpful tips and encouragement. Attendees were given gift bags from TCSS and THINC College & Career Academy as a token of appreciation for their hard work.

When asked about the best part of substituting, Lee Ann Hanner, a substitute teacher for TCSS, said, “The best part of the job is the kids. The kids will relate to you; the kids will rely on you. You respect them; they’re going to respect you. I’ve received some of the kindest notes, sweetest gifts, and best hugs from kids I have subbed for.”

There will be 2 more workshop opportunities in July, if you are interested in becoming a substitute teacher, visit: https://www.applitrack.com/troup/onlineapp/JobPostings
