The LaGrange Shrine Club will host a car show on Saturday, June 21, at Wild Leap, with funds from the event going to help the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
The car show is returning to LaGrange after many years. Organizer Jeremy Bolt said the non-profit service organization is considering the show as their first of what they plan to be an annual event, but the club used to host them every year in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
“Members moved on, and we didn’t have anybody step up and spearhead it, so it just kind of went away. This year, there are several of us who want to devote our time and focus on doing a car show again,” Bolt said.
The majority of the Shrine Club’s fundraising efforts are for Shriners’ hospitals, which are devoted to providing high-quality specialty medical care to children, regardless of their family’s ability to pay or insurance status, for over 100 years.
Bolt said they also plan to use some of the funds to fix a few things for the local club.
“A lot of times, because we focus so much of our time and energy on [the hospital], our personal club kind of goes to the wayside. We’ve got some things that we want to fix up around our club,” Bolt said, adding that the rest of the money will go to the children’s hospital.
The car show is open to all years, makes, models, cars, trucks, jeeps and motorcycles.
“If it’s got wheels and you can operate it, bring me $25 and you can enter,” Bolt said.
Five trophies will be awarded during the show. They plan to have trophies for Best Jeep and Best Motorcycle, along with the President’s Trophy, chosen by the local club president, a Brewery Trophy, chosen by their hosts Wild Leap Brew Co., and a VIP pick, chosen by the club’s Divan out of Atlanta, an elected leader of the larger Shrine Club organization.
At the show, they plan to have plenty of other prizes, including a 50/50 raffle and door prizes. Midnyt Burger will also be there for food and Wild Leap plans to open early at 11 a.m. for the car show.
LaGrange Humane Society will also be at the show with their adoption trailer.
“The show is family-friendly,” Bolt said. “We want this to be an event for everybody in the community to get out and come have some time and fellowship, see what we do, look at some cars, and just have fun.”
“We’re fortunate to live in the county that we do. We serve in this county, we work in this county, and this is just our effort to give back, bring everybody together, just like it’s supposed to be,” Bolt said.
The LaGrange Shrine Club Car Show will be held on Saturday, June 21, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wild Leap Brewery Plaza on Main Street in LaGrange. A rain date is scheduled for June 28.
