Former LaGrange High School student Jalen Parker was killed during a shooting inside a Kennesaw home on Sunday night.
Police say an argument inside a Kennesaw apartment Sunday night led to gunfire, leaving one man dead and another woman injured.
Cobb County Police responded to a report of a person shot at the Bixby Apartments, on George Busbee Parkway, in Kennesaw. Officers found an adult female outside near the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. Parker was later found inside an apartment with a gunshot wound.
Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives have identified 22-year-old Anthony Lockett of Kennesaw as the shooting suspect. According to police, Lockett had been in the apartment earlier when an argument occurred. The suspect left, returned with family members, confronted people inside with a gun, and then fired multiple shots inside the apartment, one of which hit Parker.
An individual living in the apartment returned fire. During the exchange, the suspect’s mother was shot. She was transported to Kennestone Hospital, where she was last reported as being in stable condition.
Parker was also transported to Kennestone Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and died.
Lockett was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and felony murder.
