Suspect accused of attacking woman with hatchet

Police have charged a LaGrange woman with aggravated assault for an incident where she allegedly attacked another woman.
On Tuesday morning, around 11:30 a.m., LaGrange Police responded to the 200 block of Darden Meadows Drive in reference to reports of an assault.
Police say the initial investigation revealed that a verbal dispute took place between Connie Irwin, 62, and the female victim, 35, which resulted in Irwin attempting to assault the victim with a hatchet, but she managed to avoid the attack.
The Criminal Investigations Division was notified and assumed responsibility for the investigation. Investigation revealed that Irwin attacked the victim with the intent of causing harm. Irwin was taken into custody for aggravated assault.
