Just in time to kick off summer, the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the opening of Boards & Bites with a ribbon cutting and party in the chamber plaza on Wednesday morning.
Boards and Bites is a unique catering operation. They’re essentially a mobile charcuterie cart that’s available to come to events, markets, birthday parties and all sorts of gatherings.
“It’s very customizable, but we focus on charcuterie. We can do brunch options and dessert options, too,” said co-owner Allie Powell.
The charcuterie cart is perfect for almost any festivities or gathering, where you want to kick up the entertainment.
“A big thing would be like cocktail hour at weddings and birthday parties. We do catering events for conferences. We did a christening last week,” Powell said.
Powell said she and her partner, Sammie Nichols, wanted to create something they could take to events.
“We knew we wanted to be in food. So that was kind of the start of it, and then we just kind of went from there. We did a lot of research on what other people were doing and what we wanted to participate in,” Powell said.
Powell said they can handle larger events and wedding sizes, or they can do small family events.
The family Christening … it was 10 people, so we just came in for brunch that morning to their home,” Powell said.
Powell said the name of the company, Boards and Bites, comes from the charcuterie and small bite options they offer. Powell and Nichols offer a wide variety of fun, small hors d’oeuvres. At the ribbon cutting, their charcuterie cart featured a setup to make your own waffle and pancake cones with custom fruit and candy toppings.
