It has been over a month since the Troup High baseball team won its first-ever state championship, but the accolades continue to pour in for the Tigers. Five players from the state championship-winning team were named to the GHSA All-State team: Garrison Edwards, Davis Moncus and Jake Perry were named to the first team, with Fisher Baltzell and Carson Walker being named to the second team.
Edwards, who recently committed to Murray State for football and baseball, has collected individual accolades left and right. The rising senior was named the Region 2-3A Offensive Player of the Year in addition to his All-State selection. The outfielder led the Tigers with 50 hits, 44 runs scored, and 34 stolen bases while hitting .397 and playing in every game for Troup in 2025. Edwards was one of the top players in 3A in his junior season.
Moncus did it all for Troup in 2025 en route to being named the 3A state championship series MVP. The rising junior led the Tigers in batting average (.407), on base percentage (.527), extra base hits (20), walks (29) and tied for the lead in RBIs (36). Moncus could hit the ball with power, but also has blazing speed, as evident by his 23 stolen bases, which was good enough for second-best on the team.
The damage that Moncus did was not limited to his hitting. The hard-throwing right-hander threw 61 innings in 2025, which was tied for the team lead. Moncus finished the season with an ERA of 2.82.
Perry was the ace on the mound for the Tigers this past season. His complete game shutout to lead Troup to a win in game one of the state championship series was just the icing on the cake of a dominant season for the rising senior. Perry threw 61 innings with an ERA of just 1.58 and a team-high 71 strikeouts. Perry also supplied a useful bat for the Tigers and regularly started in the infield when not on the mound, finishing his junior year with 16 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
Troup had just three seniors on the team in 2025, with Baltzell leading the way. The shortstop hit .337 with a team-high three home runs and 26 RBIs. The Chattahoochee Valley Community College signee also occasionally saw time on the mound, pitching 8 ⅓ innings with 11 strikeouts. Baltzell was also named to the Region 2-3A first team.
It was a difficult season for Walker, who had to battle through an arm injury all season, which limited his time on the mound to just 10 innings and saw him spend more time as a designated hitter than at third base. Through it all, Walker found a way to make an impact. The rising senior tied for the team lead with 36 RBIs while hitting .355. Walker had surgery after the conclusion of the 2025 season and is working to get back for his senior season in 2026.
