The LaGrange High baseball team saw four of its players named to the GHSA All-State team. It was a quartet of seniors earning the spots, with Grady Westmoreland earning first-team honors and Kayden Sutton, Gryson Cockrell, and Rob Skinner being selected for the second team. The latter three will be continuing their baseball careers at the next level.

Westmoreland did it all for the Grangers in 2025. The recent graduate led the Grangers with a .383 batting average, 44 hits, 38 runs scored and 16 stolen bases. As the leadoff hitter, Westmoreland regularly put the Grangers in early scoring situations. Westmoreland was more than just a quality bat and glove at shortstop; he was also a major factor in their pitching rotation. The hard-throwing pitcher was regularly getting the call to the mound in high-pressure situations and finished his season with a 2.90 ERA.

Sutton was also a two-way player for the Grangers. He was a workhorse on the mound, leading the team with 46 ⅓ innings of work. The Alcorn State signee went 5-2 with an ERA of just 1.81. Sutton also showed some pop from the plate, hitting one of the team’s six home runs this year and finishing with 11 RBIs.

Columbus State will be the next stop for Cockrell, who earned a spot on the second team. His senior year did not go according to plan, suffering a devastating knee injury in the football team’s season opener last fall. This derailed his baseball season as he never felt 100% during the season.

Cockrell fought through the discomfort to hit .378 with a team-leading on-base percentage of .505. The LaGrange graduate finished with 18 RBIs and 24 runs scored, starting over 20 games in the outfield with 31 appearances in total.

Skinner, a Gordon State signee, was versatile for the Grangers this year, starting games in the infield, outfield, and getting some action on the mound. Skinner led the team in extra base hits with 13 and hit .368 on the season with 23 RBIs, and 33 runs scored. He made four appearances on the mound in 2025.

The Grangers also had one player named to the honorable mention list — rising senior Mason Calhoun. As a junior, he split time between pitching and catching. Calhoun led the team with 33 RBIs while hitting .321. He pitched over 25 innings on the mound in 2025 and finished with an ERA of 3.82.
