Blake Harrington’s junior season on the diamond was one to remember. The Callaway Cavalier helped lead the team to an Elite Eight appearance and was the only player in the squad to earn All-State honors from the Georgie Dugout Club.

“It means everything to me,” he said. “It just proves that all of that hard work during the season wasn’t for nothing, but it’s not the ultimate goal. I want to win a ring, and I believe we can do that next year, and then I won’t be the only Callaway player on the All-State teams.”

As the team’s ace pitcher and star outfielder, Harrington did it all for the Cavaliers in 2025.

“I want to be the guy to pitch in big games, but if the team needs me in the outfield, I’m in the outfield,” Harrington said.

“But I love when the coach goes to the mound and points to me in the outfield because then I know it’s my time,” he added.

On offense, Harrington led the Cavaliers in batting average (.339) and hits (37), while tying for first in extra base hits (13) and finishing second on the team in RBIs (24) and walks (17).

Harrington’s stellar offense was matched if not exceeded by his excellence on the mound. Harrington went 10-2 with an ERA of 1.98 and led the team in strikeouts (96) in a team-high 84 ⅔ innings of work.

As a sophomore, Harrington was a key figure in the pitching rotation. When Bryce Hubbard graduated after last season, Harrington was promoted to the No. 1 slot, an opportunity he was primed to take full advantage of this year.

“Being the guy is what I’ve been waiting on,” Harrington said. “Bryce did it all for us last year. He was a superstar, and that’s the kind of player I want to be.”

Harrington is Callaway to his core, and when his time on the baseball diamond wrapped in 2025, he immediately jumped onto the gridiron. The rising senior took the reins as the team’s starting quarterback a season ago.

Harrington’s time leading the Cavaliers on the football field has helped him move into a leadership role for the baseball team as well.

“There was a ton of pressure on me as a first-year starting quarterback, so I had to learn how to be a leader pretty quickly last fall,” Harrington said. “It was easy to be a leader for baseball because I’ve been playing with most of those guys forever, and I had just led a different Callaway team.”

The work is not finished as Harrington looks to add a fourth pitch to his arsenal before the 2026 season.

“I always had a fastball and change-up growing up, and then I added a curveball in the eighth grade, and now that curveball has turned into a slider,” he said. “I’m looking to add a splitter or something like that before my senior season.”

While Harrington’s junior year was one to remember, the Callaway star is looking to make his last run in red and black the most memorable one yet. No matter how it ends, the journey has been worth every stop along the way.

“It means absolutely everything to play for this school,” he proudly proclaimed. “I was born on Aug. 10, and my brother had a game the very next week at Callaway Stadium, and I was there. I’ve been to just about every home football and baseball game ever since.”
