The Callaway Cavaliers haven’t lost consecutive games since the first two games of the 2011 season.

The Cavaliers are hoping that doesn’t change this week.

Callaway, which lost to B.E.S.T. Academy 14-7 last week, will host the rival Heard County Braves on Friday.

LaGrange and Troup, meanwhile, will both be on the road Friday night.

LaGrange, which fell to 0-2 with last week’s loss to Troup, will visit Spalding County.

Troup, which opened its season with the win over LaGrange, will be on the road against Northgate.

In private-school football, Lafayette Christian School will put its 1-1 record on the line when it hosts Colonial Hills.

Callaway began its season with a dramatic 20-14 overtime victory over LaGrange.

Callaway had its hands full with a strong B.E.S.T. team, though.

For the second straight week, the Cavaliers found themselves in a scoreless game at the half.

The Cavaliers had a chance to put some points on the board in the second quarter, but they fumbled the ball when they were inside the B.E.S.T. 5-yard line.

Callaway broke through in the third quarter, with running back Eddie Culpepper taking it in from more than 20 yards out for the touchdown.

B.E.S.T. rallied to tie the game, and it then drove for the winning touchdown with less than a minute remaining.

Callaway now turns its attention to a Heard County team it crushed in last year’s season opener.

After losing to Heard County in the 2012 season opener, Callaway won the rematch 34-0 a year ago.

Heard County brings an 0-1 record into this year’s game after losing to Fitzgerald 43-27 last week.

LaGrange will play its first regular-season game away from Callaway Stadium this week when it takes on Spalding County.

Spalding County went 1-9 a year ago, but it began this season with a 22-7 win over Forest Park.

Troup will have a chance to move to 2-0 when it visits Northgate.

Northgate, which is coached by former Troup head coach Tommy Walburn, began its season with a 35-22 win over Shaw.
