New Sims Nursing Scholarship recipients announced

Eighteen area students have been chosen to receive the George E. Sims Nursing Scholarship as they begin to earn their college nursing degrees this fall.
Funded by the Fuller E. Callaway Foundation and administered by the LaGrange-Troup County Hospital Authority, the scholarship includes all costs associated with fulfilling the requirements of a nursing degree. In turn, the recipients agree to work at West Georgia Health for one-and-a-half to three years after they graduate, depending on the duration of the scholarship.
Sims Scholarship recipients who will be studying in the bachelor of science in nursing program at LaGrange College are Katelyn Altemari, Kelsea Meacham, Taylor Morris , Rachel Pless, Kristin Talley, Lauren Tate, Andrea Williams and James Yancey, all of LaGrange; Evan Brasselle of Senoia, Julie Klausing of Carrollton, Sam McCloud of Moreland, Caroline Scarborough of Pine Mountain, Summer Vo of Newnan, Breanna Wallace of Cedartown and Madeline Waugh of Woodstock.
Other students receiving the Sims Scholarship this year are LeeAnne Stein of LaGrange and Cora Beth Hudgins of Fortson, who will attend nursing school at Columbus State University. Laura Blatt of Newnan received the Sims Scholarship to attend West Georgia Technical College in Newnan.
Fuller E. Callaway Foundation has provided over $20 million in scholarships for 1,246 nursing students since the Sims program’s inception in 1967. Forty-five students applied this year for the scholarship.
