LaGRANGE — Three Troup County inmates face more charges while behind bars.

Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday they have charged three inmates with criminal attempt and items prohibited for possession by inmates. Another man, Jonathan Maurice Heard, was arrested and charged with items prohibited for possession by inmates.

TCSO investigators said a detention officer reported to his supervisor that an inmate had contacted him and offered him money to bring contraband into the Troup County Jail and deliver it to the inmates.

The detention officer worked with investigators and met again with the individual, identified as Jonathan Maurice Heard. According to TCSO officials, Heard handed over cell phones and tobacco, then paid the officer to deliver the items to the inmates in the Troup County Jail, who had previously contacted him.

Investigators said they immediately arrested Heard without incident and transported him to the jail.

Officials said all the contraband was taken by investigators and never entered the jail facility.

TCSO investigators charged inmates Jeffery O’Bryan Young, Marquavion Santez Colton and Darrell Deshawn Hill with criminal attempt and items prohibited for possession by inmates. The investigation is still ongoing to determine whether other inmates or people may be involved.

Sheriff James Woodruff said anyone considering bringing or attempting to bring prohibited items into the Troup County Jail will face charges.
