Last-minute contenders enter races for LaGrange, Hogansville, West Point

LaGRANGE — Qualifying for city elections in LaGrange, Hogansville and West Point wrapped on Friday.
Last-minute qualifiers include incumbent West Point Mayor Drew Ferguson and a challenger for his seat, Dee Dee Williams. No one qualified to run against any of the incumbent city council candidates in West Point.
In LaGrange, three city council candidates signed up Friday to challenge incumbents. Nathan Gaskin will face incumbent Willie Edmondson, Richard Kimbrough will face incumbent LeGree McCamey, and Mark Mitchell will face incumbent Bobby Traylor for their council seats.
In Hogansville, Elizabeth Brummett and Ray Jordan qualified Friday, both for the city council Post 4 seat against incumbent George Bailey. Hogansville’s Post 5 seat also will be contested, but Post 3 councilwoman Jean Crocker didn’t qualify, leaving newcomer Fred Higgins the only qualified candidate for her seat.

LaGrange
• Willie T. Edmondson, incumbent, to run for re-election to the District 2C post on LaGrange City Council.
• Nathan Gaskin to run for the District 2C post on LaGrange City Council.
• Richard L. Kimbrough to run for the District 2B post on LaGrange City Council.
• LeGree McCamey, incumbent, to run for re-election to the District 2B post on LaGrange City Council.
• Mark Mitchell to run for the District 1C post on LaGrange City Council.
• Bobby Traylor, incumbent, to run for re-election to the District 1C post on LaGrange City Council.
Hogansville
• George Bailey, incumbent, to run for re-election to the Post 4 seat on Hogansville City Council.
• Elizabeth Brummett to run for the Post 4 seat on Hogansville City Council.
• William F. Higgins to run for the Post 3 seat on Hogansville City Council.
• Ray Jordon to run for the Post 4 seat on Hogansville City Council.
• Thomas Pike, incumbent, to run for re-election to the Post 5 seat on Hogansville City Council.
• Theresa Strickland to run for the Post 5 seat on Hogansville City Council.
West Point
• A. Drew Ferguson IV, incumbent, to run for re-election to the seat of West Point Mayor.
• Gerald Ledbetter, incumbent, to run for re-election to a seat on West Point City Council.
• Sandra Thornton, incumbent, to run for re-election to a seat on West Point City Council.
• Benjamin F. Wilcox, incumbent, to run for re-election to a seat on West Point City Council.
• Dee Dee Williams to seek election to the seat of West Point Mayor.
