Business news: LaGrange auto service companies combine, create Quality Imports

LaGRANGE — An acquisition of Andy’s Imports by Tim Riggs of Quality Mufflers has produced Quality Import Automotive located at 1112 Hogansville Road.
Riggs bought Andy’s Imports from Andy Phillips at the start of 2015. The acquisition is a move to offer a one-stop shop for customers in need of car repair, Riggs said.
“We do all repairs, but we specialize in imports.”
The staff will remain the same from the two businesses. Riggs and his son, Brian, will act as owners and operators; Phillips will now be head technician; Ron Hopeck will act as service manager; Robert Harmon will be the exhaust/muffler specialist.
“We’re still the muffler and exhaust headquarters of LaGrange,” Riggs said.
But Quality Import Automotive is focused on full-service of imported and domestic automobiles.
According to Riggs, his business is geared to provide full-service repairs and maintenance ranging from simple oil changes all the way to major overhauls. The business does not repair or sell tires.
Riggs started out in the business of automotive repair in 1986 and owned two shops in Atlanta. He sold the shops in 1989 in order to move back to LaGrange to raise his two sons and be closer to his and his wife’s family; at that time he opened Quality Mufflers.
All of Quality Imports’ employees are ASE certified.
