LAGRANGE – They know what they have to do.

If the Lafayette Christian School Cougars are going to make it to the state playoffs this season, they can’t afford any more slip-ups in region play.

An overtime loss to Central Christian on Sept. 25 has left the Cougars (4-3 overall) in a position where they almost certainly have to win their final two region games to qualify for the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association state playoffs.

The first of those two region games is today, with Lafayette Christian hitting the road to play CrossPointe Christian in Williamson.

After a week off, Lafayette Christian will be at home for its final region game against Holy Ground.

The Cougars will wrap up the regular season on Nov. 6 against Ballard Christian, and by that point they’ll know if they’re heading to state or not.

After dropping three straight games overall, the Cougars got back on track in a big way last week with a 56-0 road win over Shiloh Hills.

Antavious Sands, Jemi Reed and Eli Shepherd each had touchdown runs for the Cougars, and Reed also had a 65-yard punt return for a score.

Quarterback Landon Whitley added a touchdown run, and he threw a scoring pass to Morgan Channell.

Jess Hill added an interception return for a touchdown during the blowout victory.
