HOGANSVILLE – Residents in Hogansville may have noticed several fire hydrants spraying water on Montville Road for the past several weeks.
According to James Woods, city manager of Hogansville this is being done to “manage the (water) pressure of the pipes” leading in to resident’s houses due to work being done on the water tower near the interstate.
If the pipes weren’t drained, they would bust the pipes in the homes of residents, he said.
“It is not a waste of money,” Woods said. “It is a prescribed engineering method.”
The city is waiting for the tower to be painted before they turn the fire hydrants off.
The process has been going on for three to four weeks, Woods said.
