LaGRANGE — The delicious smell of beans, meats, tomatoes and other secret ingredients will soon waft through the air around Lafayette Square as competitors bring their best pot of chili — and their “A” game — for the 25th annual Chili Cook Off on Saturday.
Contestants have the chance to win top awards — and bragging rights — if their chili is deemed best in LaGrange.
All the booths that participate in the event are also raising money for a charity of their choice.
The Chili Cook Off is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Prizes will be given for People’s Choice for Best Chili and the Judges’ Choice for Best Chili. A prize is also given to the best decorated booth.
There will also be a children’s Halloween festival on Lafayette Square from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a costume contest for children starting at noon.
Parents can take their children trick or treating around the square from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
