Wednesday
Events: The Troup County Board of Realtors hosts a Veterans Day breakfast starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce on Bull Street. The event is open to all local veterans.
Story time for pre-schoolers at is 10:30 a.m. at Hogansville Public Library, 600 E. Main St. 706-637-6230
Preschool story time at LaGrange Memorial Library is at 10:30 a.m. and includes stories, fingerplays, songs and a craft time. 706-882-7784
The West Georgia Veterans Council hosts its annual ceremony recognizing Veterans Day at the Troup County Veterans Memorial, next to the Juvenile Court on Ridley Avenue, at 11 am.
The LaGrange Elks Lodge hosts a free lunch for all veterans, Military personnel and their families at the Elks Lodge, 905 S. Davis Road, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
The Yolanda K. Jabley Clothing Center, 201 Bryon Hurst St., opens free to veterans 12:30–2:30 p.m. Veterans in need should bring their DD214, Military ID or veterans card for screening along with a photo ID. Veteran participates will check in with the Veterans of Foreign War Post 4629 and Clothing Center volunteers and then browse a selection of specially donated and collected clothing.
West Point Elementary Character Chorus and fourth and fifth grade Discovery students host a Veteran’s Day celebration 1 p.m. at the school. It is open to all veterans in the community, and local firefighters, police officers and city council members have been invited.
Meetings: Self Help Harbor, 909 Stonewall St., hosts AA meetings at noon, 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
A bereavement support group meets 11 a.m. at Hospice LaGrange.
Churches: Callaway Baptist Church hosts service and classes at 7 p.m.

Events: God’s Breadbasket, a food pantry serving Hogansville residents, is open from 9 a.m.–noon.

Events: The Moonlight Ballroom Dance Club of LaGrange hosts a couple’s beginner polka lesson and dance at LaFayette Christian School Gym, 1904 Hamilton Road in LaGrange. LaGrange Personal Aid, 416 Pierce St., is taking applications for the 2015 Empty Stocking Fund for families who cannot afford to buy toys for their children, up to 10 years old, at Christmas. Applications are open to residents of Troup County excluding Hogansville. Income must be lower than the current federal poverty guidelines and applicants should bring proof of income and ID. Application hours are 9–11 a.m. and 1–4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 9–11 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
Pine Mountain First United Methodist Church is participating in Operation Christmas Child, an initiative to provide children in third-world countries with items like toys, school supplies, nonliquid hygiene items, clothing and accessories, and crafts. Exhibits
LaGrange Art Museum presents the exhibition Mirror Mirror through Jan. 16. in partnership with Hills & Dales for a year-long celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Callaway family home. Featuring portraiture mirroring portraiture, the exhibit takes a look at portraiture across centuries and cultures, and will include some Troup County residents. 809 Gallery of Art, 809 Hill St. in LaGrange, hosts an International Exhibition, a show featuring works in a variety of media by artists from around the world, starting Saturday and running through Nov. 21. An opening reception is Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. with musical guest Angela Hutchins.
