WEST POINT — Investigators with the West Point Police Department are searching for a man who reportedly assaulted and robbed an employee of the Aroma Sauna at 308 W. 8th St. just after 6 p.m. Sunday.

According to West Point police officers on the scene, two people working in a nearby office found the injured victim sitting on a back door entrance.

The woman reportedly told them she had just been beaten up by an unidentified man and needed help.

Officers said the victim had lacerations on her knees and hands, a large bump around her left eye and blood around her lips and between her teeth.

The victim was taken to the East Alabama Medical Center for treatment. Her condition was unavailable as of press time.

She told officers, through an interpreter, that a man she did not know kicked in the door that separates the front lobby from the rest of the business.

Investigators at the scene said the crime was particularly brutal. They found what they believe is the victim’s blood covering items inside her office, the walls and another room inside the business.

Police said they did find some footage of the suspect on surveillance cameras. He was described as a black man with a slender build in his late 20s or early 30s.

According to detectives, the suspect was in and out of the business in five minutes and took an undisclosed amount of money.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call the West Point Police Department at 706-645-2226.
