Warriors begin region schedule with a win

LAGRANGE -It was one of those nights for LaGrange Academy’s Will Trotter.

Trotter had a sensational night shooting the ball, making 9-of-10 attempts from beyond 3-point range to lead his team to a 64-40 victory over Oak Mountain.

It was the GISA Region 1-AA opener for the Warriors, who improved to 2-1.

The Warriors led by more than 40 points at the half, and head coach Britt Gaylor was able to empty the bench.

“We got a chance for everybody to play,” Gaylor said.

CALLAWAY: The Cavaliers got their season off to a quick start with a 75-52 road win over Greenville.

Ernest Patillo scored 17 points to lead the Cavaliers in scoring, and Dre Martin and Braylon Sanders added 16 points apiece.

Joe Brown contributed 12 points.

Leading 35-24 at the half, the Cavaliers extended their lead to 56-37 by the close of the third period, and they cruised to the win.

In the girls’ game, Callaway fell short 51-39.

KeKe Talley led Callaway with 13 points, and Alexus Scott scored seven points and pulled down 18 rebounds.
