Unbeaten Cougars cruise to road win

The unbeaten Lafayette Christian School Cougars made it five wins in a row to start the season with a 90-71 road victory over Arlington Christian School on Monday.

Senior post player Marcus Mobley had a dominant game for the Cougars with 40 points, 16 rebounds and seven steals.

Senior guard Jemi Reed also had a stellar all-around game with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists.

The Cougars surged to a 36-24 halftime lead, but with five minutes remaining in the game, they were only ahead by five points.

Lafayette Christian, which improved to 4-0 in region play, then finished the game on a 14-0 run to win going away

In Monday’s girls’ game, Lafayette Christian School’s girls’ team lost to Arlington School 54-26.

It was close early.

Lafayette Christian trailed 10-7 after the first quarter, but Arlington took control from there to get the home win.

Abby Hudson and Rory Kloster each had six points for the Lady Cougars, and Veronica Prince and Roni Bowman each had five points.

Lafayette Christian’s teams will be off until Jan. 5 when they host Ballard Christian.
