WEST POINT — Two separate accidents involving tractor-trailers held up traffic on Interstate 85 southbound for hours Tuesday afternoon, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The first accident was reported just after 2 p.m. when a transport truck overturned partially across the median at mile marker 8, just south of the Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia plant, GSP officials said.

No one was hurt.

But while crews were trying to clean up that wreck, GSP stated another accident involving a tractor-trailer and car happened almost in the same spot just after 7 p.m.

That crash continued to back up traffic as troopers investigated the wreck and cleaned up the mess.

GSP officials did not know if anyone was hurt in that accident as of press time.
